Live Long and Prosper

Well it has truly been awhile, harder than I thought to keep a blog up to date… Where to start? Well so much has happened.
Firstly as I posted here, The One has her drivers license. Perhaps in hindsight, I should have gotten rid of the sports car before
. Thank goodness she is safe and it is a small bump. Always amazes me the price that some components cost.
This year is flying at record speeds, and yet when trying to accomplish some items it is filled with a gelatinous molasses that impedes all progress. I can only hope that some experience is being gained, and that wisdom of some sort is projected in one way or another.
Today was a trying day… perseverance is a key… perhaps
And toast will take over the world…

The One and I were fortunate enough to get hold of some excellent seats for a comedian that we have become fans of. I’m talking of Eddie Izzard of course and his 46664 tour of South Africa. We drove to the CTICC and arrived in time to have a few leisurely pre-awesomeness drinks. Besides the extremely entertaining art of people watching… a commotion was brewing outside. It turns out that the sign on top of the Cullinan Southern Sun, Cape Town CBD, had caught alight.
Here we can see the heat dissipating source.

Parts of the sign, black material of some kind, began to feel the faint tug of gravity. Below the sign you find some prime examples of flora in need of liquid nourishment. Some of the palms caught alight, and one brave employee did what needed to be done. He climbed the flag pole, where someone threw up a fire extinguisher.

Well the pre-show was pretty much over by the time the fire brigade arrived, and so it was time to go and enjoy some humour. I was impressed with the Auditorium at the CTICC, comfortable seats. I highly recommend row 8, it puts you at eye level with the performer. Thanks to Twitter, and especially @CathrynR for tweeting about the gig minutes after it went live on Computicket.

Eddie Izzard was brilliant. Apparently there were some people that left the show, pity. I would definitely recommend his show, and will definitely see the next one. How he puts some of the bits together is astounding, turning something as mundane as making toast into a truly great laugh. Two things that you should know about toast, A) they will be taking over the world and marmalade will be our best defence, B) you should always have stiff “manly” toast, not toast that has been leaning against a radiator for 5 seconds. Which is frankly a damp squid…
Right, off to the shops in search of marmalade…
Do you feel lucky …

A day comes when you experience the joy of freedom… the end of the taxi days. No longer having to be driven around. If there is a need for milk… you now have the power. The One was recently awarded her ticket to this freedom. Along with this freedom comes the shear terror for me though… my baby will be driven by another. So dear reader, this may be the final entry in this blog… for I am destined to curl up into a ball…

The One showing us how it is done. So… proud of you baby.
By the power of Greyskull…

So … this blog has finally gone live and is available to all this planets denizens. Will we see signs of intelligent life, or are we doomed to an 8-bit existence in this 64-bit world.
The styling needs some work and a new logo is needed, but the overall design is thanks to the team at Woothemes. The design is one of their free designs, but they have just implemented a framework that makes implementing your own blog as simple as imagining how awesomely hot She-Ra would have been in real life. So I will definitely be checking out their paid for options as well.
And so begins the journey…

There comes a time in everyone’s life where reflection becomes important and almost a norm. Looking back at what has transpired and what is to come. How we have survived through many trials and tribulations in our onward progress through life. Which brings us to this point…
My name is Jonathan Page, and I’m a GEEK. Not a geek as everyone with a fetish for technology seems to align themselves too, but I’ve been a GEEK for far longer than that, when the Jocks apparently ruled, before the metro-sexual, and when life was ruled by 640KB. I have the Knack. Will I lead a life of normalcy… unfortunately no… I will lead a life of social ineptitude… for I am an engineer.
I shall endeavour to write on these fair blog pages in a timely fashion, and correct the errors that have passed on and those that will come to pass. I will astound you with my level of supposed wisdom, and will guide you in my quest through life. For on these pages you will not find wisdom, but a simple person who enjoys the finer aspects of life, who is on a quest to explore strange new worlds … to seek out new life … and new civilisations … to boldly go … where no man … has gone before.
def: Knack - a rare condition, categorised by an extreme intuition about all things mechanical and electrical and utter social ineptitude. – Dilbert
